Introduces concept of designing from cradle to cradle, rather than cradle to grave. Materials should be considered in continuous life cycles and products should be designed to be good for the environment, rather than just less bad.

Practical book explaining the necessity and motives for pursuing eco-design, the tools and strategies that can be used in the design process and examples of good practice. One of the most practical books available on eco-design.

The Total Beauty of Sustainable Products - Edwin Datschefski

The book intorduces key issues and concepts such as the cyclic/solar/safe and efficient principle developed by the author. Features a tour through some of the current products that could be used to live in a more sustainable manner. Issues are not covered in depth, but it is a good source of background information.

Full of excellent examples, all proposals are based on existing technology and the majority are entirely possible today. An essential read for anybody interested in sustainability.
