Renewable Materials

Increasingly it is possible to produce materials from renewable sources such as wood, starch and sugar cane. These materials are typically substitutes for plastics.

Pros: Reduce consumption of non-renewable resources and reduce waste when produced from agricultural waste
Cons: Must be produced in a resonsible way to avoid non-sustainable levels of consumption and negative side effects such as agri-chemical use
Pros: Can have higher percieved value and ong term prices may be more stable than oil based products
Cons: Can be more expensive than non-renewable materials
