Batteries and Accumulators
An extension of the existing directives on batteries and accumulators (91/157/EEC, 93/86/EEC)Â has been proposed by the European Commission, which will require a high proportion of batteries on the market to be collected and recycled in order to reduce the high environmental degradation caused by the improper disposal of batteries, particularly concerning the hazardous chemicals contained such as Lead, Cadmium and Mercury.
